Milan Kordestani: Budding Equestrian Star, Organic Farmer And Published Author

Equestrian has a new rising star. His name is Milan Kordestani and he is a teenager from California. Kordestani began riding at age ten and it immediately became clear that he was a special talent. Although he is still in his teens, Milan Kordestani has proven he can perform when the light shines brightest.

Just a few years into his career, he is already competing at the highest level of equestrian and doing very well. He was third in the Under Park Division of the World Championships in 2015. The next year he participated in the 5-Gaited Show Pleasure division of the World Championship and came in second. And the experts expect him to do even better in the coming years.

While finishing near the top in the World Championships so early in his career is a great accomplishment, Milan Kordestani has also shown he has a head for business. While still in high school at Sacred Heart Preparatory, he founded Milan Farms and serves as its CEO. An Atherton, California resident, Kordestani says his goal is to bring ‘simple back to farming’. Using organic farming techniques, the farm grows herbs and saffron and markets them along with free-range chickens and brown eggs. Milan Farms uses Parrot Flower Power technology to monitor the soil and the plants to ensure they have all the necessary nutrients.

Milan Farms uses drip irrigation to keep the soil moist. This method uses 30,000 gallons a year less than traditional sprinkler systems. This is important because of the droughts that regularly plague California farming communities. All the products grown at Milan Farms are organic, pesticide-free and non-GMO. The saffron and herbs are planted, nurtured and harvested using safe, wholesome techniques to eliminate the concerns people often have about exactly what is in the food that’s on their plate.

The saffron at Milan Farms is grown using innovative mineral rich hydroponic and aquaponic systems.

In addition to his work in equestrian and running Milan Farms, Milan Kordestani is also a published author. His articles on mental health, agriculture and politics regularly appear in the Huffington Post.
