Unforgettable Villains: The Real Reason We Love Film

Movie villains come in all shapes and sizes. Over the years, Hollywood has produced an unending list of memorable baddies, so trying to select the top few is more a task in taste than anything else. This list of villains is eclectic and in no means meant to offend the bad guys not mentioned.

KYSER SOZE – The man who pulls the strings in the award-winning The Usual Suspects, Kyser exacts his revenge to all who crossed his path.

NURSE RATCHET – She is the ultimate foil to Jack Nicholson’s crazy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Her authority and domineering ability was truly monstrous.

NORMAN BATES – A true villain if there ever was one. Psycho’s Norman Bates hides the monster inside so well that when he attacks at the end of the film, it truly is a shocker.

BABY JANE – Bette Davis brought this wonderful character to life in the 60’s and it resonates even today. As a former child star turned psycho, Baby Jane terrorizes Joan Crawford’s character in truly memorable and horrific fashion.

BLACK CHRISTMAS KILLER – This one is a bit off the beaten path but those of you who have seen the original Black Christmas (1974 with Olivia Hussey, John Saxon, Keir Dullea) then you understand. This psychotic killer’s identity was the biggest question throughout the movie and his wild, imaginative and creepy calls will leave an impression that will last long after the movie concludes.
