Lawrence Bender and his History in Hollywood

Lawrence Bender, Hollywood films, political and environmental activist, filmmakerLawrence Bender is an experienced movie producer with over two decades in the industry. He has been involved in many of America’s greatest films, working often with Quentin Tarantino on films like Reservoir Dogs. He also helped put together popular Matt Damon movie Good Will Hunting. Bender was born in 1957 in New York City.

Lawrence Bender is also involved in philanthropy, often throwing fundraiser parties for political action and social issues. He was a student at the University of Maine, and he was given an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree in 2013 from the university.

Pulp Fiction

Without a doubt, this is one of Lawrence Bender’s most popular and appreciated contributions to American film. Pulp Fiction was released in 1994 and stars John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, and Uma Thurman. The story revolves around crime in Los Angeles, frequently switching point of view characters in order to tell a story about a criminal trying to retrieve an important item.

The film gained popularity for its use of an ex-machina, leading to fans creating theories about a briefcase’s contents decades after the films release. It is still unknown what the actual contents of the briefcase were.

The film is also famous for the choice to tell the story out of chronological order.

Inglourious Basterds

Inglourious Basterds is a more recent project made possible with Lawrence Bender’s help. Like Pulp Fiction, this film was also directed by Quentin Tarantino.

The movie is unique among Tarantino films for having an out of ordinary cast. Most Tarantino films consist of repeat actors like Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, and Uma Thurman. Inglorious Basterds marked Tarantino’s most unfamiliar project to date. This film features actors Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, and Christoph Waltz.

Inglourious Basterds is a period piece, taking place during World War II, beginning in 1941. The movie’s plot focuses on a group of skilled military personnel who are tasked with carrying out an important assassination during a movie premiere. The team runs into several problems during their plan, resulting in several comedic relief moments.
